"Red Chevy"

 

When I look at this piece, it just makes me happy. I love the bright cheerful red of the truck that is balanced out with the calm blue sky but then the bold lines of the chrome tie it all up together. The windshield is captivating in the way it captured the colors of the sky and world around it. I find my eyes bouncing all around this painting but then staying at the front grill/headlight area... It shows such depth and contrast that my eyes can't seem to leave. All in all this painting reminds me of summer time. I want to open the door, turn on some music, and cruise down the road (with the windows down of course.) It's a happy place for sure.

I Created this truck for my second pastel project. I choose the original reference because I loved the cool shapes and fun curves of this vintage Chevy Silveredo. This was a really fun project which sparked my interest in pastels. Another cool fact is that the license plate letters are actually my initials.
