"The Tool Set"

Here we have a tool set. What makes these tools so interesting to look at?  When I look at any one of these drawings I see shiny metal and little groves which I would have never noticed by just holding a level or pocket knife. It's almost as if I'm looking at a little world that is very intriguing to the eye because of the bold contrast. Another aspect I notice about these drawings are the odd angles and the use of lines which  seem to direct my eye all around the drawing. All of the above seem to make these boring tools surprising interesting to look at.

I created this tool set because I was taking a composition class and I needed something that would surprisingly stand out. For the class, I needed to take a picture of something and then zoom in on it for the drawing. I had trouble coming up with something so I took a few photos of random objects around the house. The photos that I liked the best ended up to all be tools. I had a lot of fun drawing these, probably because of all the reflections and solid shapes. I just love drawing metal.
