"Roasting Marshmallows"

I love campfires. they bring back so many amazing memories from roasting marshmallows with my family to messing around with the flames with my friends (specifically making the sparks fling up like fireworks). When I look at this fire I can't help but get lost in the flames and the flakes of ash which seem as if they are about to fly away. then the memories come on... I hope that you may find a lot of memories as well.

I created this campfire because I wanted to do a unique project in my watercolor class. I loved the bright bold colors in the reference photo which was taken by a good friend of mine. Since my teacher was opposed to it, I added the marshmallows to give the painting more depth and meaning. Although she still didn't think it would turn out, I was determined, so she let me do it. In the end, we both loved the finished project (even though I had faith in it all along), and she even asked for a copy to use as an example in future classes.
